NEWS: Effie Trinket To Replace Fulvia in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' Films As Per Author Suzanne Collins' Request

Upon the release of the official Character Posters for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 featuring Effie, Finnick, Haymitch, Beetee, Plutarch and President Coin, we received some questions on Twitter, mostly from book readers, concerning why Effie has a poster and is in District 13. In Suzanne Collins' Mockingjay (Book), Katniss assumed that Effie started hiding (perhaps in The Capitol) for her own protection after Katniss destroyed the arena's forcefield, escaped The Capitol's arrest and shattered the games forever. Well to answer that question, here is an interview with Director Francis Lawrence which was released along with the official launch of The Hunger Games viral website in May called TheHungerGamesExclusive.com, where he revealed that upon Suzanne Collins' request to have her in the Mockingjay films, Effie is to replace Fulvia's role (well, basically).
If you can recall, Fulvia Cardew is introduced in Mockingjay as Plutarch Heavensbee's assistant in District 13 who is originally from The Capitol. There was no casting for the role of Fulvia in Mockingjay, which further indicates that Effie will indeed take over her part.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 opens in theaters on November 21, 2014.
