NEWS: 'The Hunger Games' Prequel titled 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' To Be Released in May 2020, Official Cover Revealed

Scholastic Inc. has officially released the title, release date and the official cover for Suzanne Collins' upcoming Hunger Games prequel novel.

Titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the new Hunger Games prequel book is slated to be released in bookstores worldwide on May 19, 2020. The novel's cover features a songbird and a snake resting on a tree branch and has a green, gold and black theme.

Lionsgate Entertainment, the studio behind the film adaptations of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games series, has been making significant moves of late. In a recent interview with Variety, CEO Jon Feltheimer dishes on these major deals and discusses the possibility of extending The Hunger Games and Twilight franchises.

NEWS: 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' Voted As the Most Anticipated Fall Release EVER, Beats New Star Wars Film

Pretty sure we all already know this but the final film in The Hunger Games franchise - Mockingjay Part 2, which hits theaters in less than 2 months, is the Most Anticipated Fall Movie Release EVER, according to a recent survey by Piedmont Media Research.  Mockingjay Part 2 had a rating of 514, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens which had a rating of 495 and previous all-time record holder - summer blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron with a rating of 509. Set your DVR's Tributes! The drought is finally over! A new trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will premiere tomorrow, Wednesday September 16th, on Good Morning America. Although it has yet to be confirmed by Lionsgate, the official twitter account for the morning talk show announced that a new trailer will be revealed for the first time tomorrow.

TheWrap is reporting that our lead actress Jennifer Lawrence and our Mockingjay Part 1 & 2 director Francis Lawrence will once again be working together in the film called "The Dive" to be produced by Avatar and Titanic director -- James Cameron. The film is going to be a biopic that will tell the unfortunate story of freedivers Francisco "Pipin" Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre. Jennifer Lawrence is in talks to star as Mestre while Francis Lawrence is in talks to helm the film.

NEWS: Blu-ray & DVD Release Date for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' REVEALED!

UPDATE (01/17/2015): A slip from Wal-Mart has surfaced online, indicating that the Blu-ray and DVD for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 are planned to be released on March 6, 2015 in the United States. So far, this is the most credible source about the release date of the Blu-ray/DVD for the film. However, please consider this a rumor until Lionsgate confirms anything. Previous release date reports have not changed. But we honestly think Wal-Mart's release date of March 6 is more likely to be correct than DVDWorldUSA's reported February 24th release date.
