Earlier today, prior to the release of Gary Ross' statement about his decision not to direct Catching Fire, The Hollywood Reporter and Comingsoon.net had the chance to interview The Hunger Games star, Josh Hutcherson about his thoughts on Gary directing Catching Fire.
Josh told THR: "I think Gary’s the man. Gary is in my mind is the only one that could ever direct the second one. That’s what I’m sticking to.”
He also talked to Comingsoon.net about his expectations on Gary Ross to return for Catching Fire: “There is not much doubt in my mind he’ll be doing it. I think so. I don’t think there’s a chance he won’t,” Hutcherson told us. The actor, who plays Peeta, added: ”He killed the first one, absolutely knocked it out of the park. Everyone loved him. Myself, Jennifer and the others loved him. I couldn’t imagine making another movie without him, so that’s what I have to say about that…” [smiles]
Reading this was heartbreaking, knowing the sad news that just broke out. We'll miss you Gary Ross! Thank you for doing The Hunger Games justice!
