OFFICIAL: 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' Part 1 Gets PG-13 Rating From The Motion Picture Associations of America

The Motion Picture Association of America has released their updated movie ratings bulletin for the films that will open in theaters in the last quarter of 2014 including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, which has officially been given a PG-13 rating.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some disturbing images and thematic material.

Not like we're totally surprised, since most of Young Adult book-to-film adaptations and the previous two Hunger Games films are similarly rated, but some fans have expressed their worry before about Mockingjay's possible rating due to the extreme war elements and intense sequences that will be featured in both of the films basing on the content of the novel (but then again, The Hunger Games achieved a PG-13 rating). I guess now that's settled. Getting an R rating would also affect the box-office sales, which is something we're certain the production team would be really careful about and stay away from.

Would you be interested in seeing an R-rated version of The Hunger Games films in the future? Tell us in the comments.
