NEWS: Josh Hutcherson Invited To Join The Academy
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has publicly released this year's list of invitees. And among the 271 professionals of filmmaking who were invited to join the most prestigious organization in the film industry is our Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games films, Josh Hutcherson.
Several cast members of The Hunger Games film franchise, like Julianne Moore, who will be playing the coveted role of President Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman who played and will be playing Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire and the Mockingjay films, respectively, our Haymitch Woody Harrelson, and of course, our very own lead star Jennifer Lawrence are already members of The Academy. And with Josh being invited to join this prestigious organization, indicative that he has made such a mark in the industry for all of his work, we couldn't be more proud and happy for him. Congratulations!
LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 271 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2014.
“This year’s class of invitees represents some of the most talented, creative and passionate filmmakers working in our industry today,” said Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs. “Their contributions to film have entertained audiences around the world, and we are proud to welcome them to the Academy.”
