INTERVIEW: Find Out What Josh Hutcherson Took As A Souvenir From 'The Hunger Games' Set

Our Peeta Mellark, Josh Hutcherson has been busy promoting his upcoming new movie Escobar: Paradise Lost (watch the trailer HERE). The film, directed by Andrea Di Stefano, premiered last night at the Toronto International Film Festival where Josh was in attendance. And in an interview with KiSS 92.5 on the red carpet premiere, Josh talked about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay being split into two parts and building life-long friendships with the cast. He also revealed what he took as a souvenir from The Hunger Games set. Find out what below!

Josh Hutcherson Toronto International Film Festival
Hutcherson plays Peeta Mellark in the wildly successful Hunger Games movies, which are based on the books by Suzanne Collins.
The actor said he recently saw the finished The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which is set for release in November (“I loved it. I’m so proud of it”). Part 2 is due out in November 2015.
“I’m so glad that they split it into two movies because there’s so much that happens in that third book that if you tried to squeeze it into one two hour movie you would have lost so much,” he told KiSS 92.5.
Hutcherson insisted fans will be thrilled by Mockingjay.
“It’s really dark, it’s really intense and the way you see how these characters try to recover and then build up a counterstrike against what they’ve experienced is really intense,” he said. “You’re absolutely going to love it.”

The star said it was hard to wrap production and walk away from cast and crew who worked together for a big part of the past four years.
“We’ve gone through some big changes together, just personally and professionally, that it’s hard to know that you’re not going to be 12 hours every day for months at a time with them,” said Hutcherson. “We’re still close, we’re still friends, we talk all the time — but it’s not the same so I’m definitely going to miss it.”
Did Hutcherson take a souvenir from District 12?
“I actually took the pendant that I gave Katniss — the one that opens and has the picture of her family, from that scene on the beach. I took that. It’s my one memento,” he confessed.
“It’s in my house in my desk drawer. I’m going to try to purposefully lose it — but in a way that I know I will find it in the future.”
Josh also talked about our Jennifer Lawrence's recent nude photo hacking where he defended the Academy Award-winning actress and said that it's "completely unfair." You can read that interview HERE.

That Everlark pendant was such as huge symbolism in the books. We cannot be any happier that the movie prop will be in the hands of Peeta himself forever. Now we can't wait to know what souvenirs the other cast members took from the set.

If given the chance, which movie prop would you have taken as a souvenir from The Hunger Games set? Sound off in the comments.
