INTERVIEW: Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer Discusses Future of 'The Hunger Games' Franchise, World Expansion Plans

Lionsgate Entertainment, the studio behind the film adaptations of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games series, has been making significant moves of late. Recently, the studio acquired the premium cable and satellite television network Starz, aiming to amplify their content distribution and generate a larger marketing platform for their shows and films. In a recent interview with Variety, CEO Jon Feltheimer dishes on these major deals and discusses the possibility of extending The Hunger Games and Twilight franchises.

Lionsgate has been releasing new extended/deleted scenes from the first Hunger Games movie and several behind-the-scenes documentary clips from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in promotion of the forthcoming release of the final film in the franchise on Digital HD next Tuesday, March 8, and on Blu-ray & DVD on March 22.

Last week, Lionsgate Vice Chairman - Michael Burns revealed at a recent investor conference that the film studio is thinking of making more Hunger Games films, prequels that involve arenas, more specifically. Fans have mixed opinions about this subject matter. Some don't want any more films because they think that it would just be Hollywood's way of milking the franchise and that prequels/sequels or what have you would probably just ruin the legacy of the original tetralogy. Others, however, would love to see more of Panem and the intricate story of the other characters in Suzanne Collins' tale. Director Francis Lawrence has already said in several interviews that he would only be in to direct more Hunger Games films if the story/script is from Suzanne herself. NEWS: Lionsgate Vice Chairman Wants To Film 'Hunger Games' Prequels Where There Would Be Arenas

Lionsgate Vice Chairman, Michael Burns, spoke at a recent investor conference, discussing the desire of the film studio to make more Hunger Games films. More specifically, Burns talked about their interest in filming Hunger Games prequels where there would be "arenas," as it is what the audience apparently "missed" from the earlier Hunger Games films. He also compared The Hunger Games franchise to Harry Potter and said that the series would live on and on and on...

INTERVIEW: Find Out What Josh Hutcherson Took As A Souvenir From 'The Hunger Games' Set

Our Peeta Mellark, Josh Hutcherson has been busy promoting his upcoming new movie Escobar: Paradise Lost (watch the trailer HERE). The film, directed by Andrea Di Stefano, premiered last night at the Toronto International Film Festival where Josh was in attendance. And in an interview with KiSS 92.5 on the red carpet premiere, Josh talked about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay being split into two parts and building life-long friendships with the cast. He also revealed what he took as a souvenir from The Hunger Games set. Find out what below!

Hutcherson plays Peeta Mellark in the wildly successful Hunger Games movies, which are based on the books by Suzanne Collins. 

The actor said he recently saw the finished The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which is set for release in November (“I loved it. I’m so proud of it”). Part 2 is due out in November 2015.

Deluxe Digital Cinema has confirmed that a second teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is going to be 59 seconds in length and will be shown in front of Dawn of the Planets of the Apes in theaters this weekend. Similar to the first teaser trailer which was played with Transformers: Age of Extinction a couple of weeks ago, this second teaser trailer is expected to be attached to all showings of Dawn of the Planets of the Apes, including midnight showings on Thursday.

RUMOR: Teaser Trailer For 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' To Be Released This Week?

Now that filming for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has officially wrapped in Berlin, Germany, we're sure that fans of The Hunger Games have never been more eager to see the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, the first part of the 2-part finale to The Hunger Games film series. We have already informed you last week that we are expecting the trailer to be officially unveiled this week in front of Transformers: Age of Extinction based upon personal assumptions, our exclusive investigation about the new NATO guidelines and simply because it makes sense. But now, a new trailer rumor has surfaced online on the IMDb forums page posted by an Australian movie theater worker, supporting our theory about the trailer release, stating that he himself delivered a box labeled "Untitled Trilogy Teaser A" from Roadshow Films, which as we all know is the working title for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in Atlanta. In addition, Roadshow Films is the Australian distributor for The Hunger Games. The box, apparently, contains a Key Delivery Message (KDM) locked file.
The claimer also said that they are instructed to play the trailer in front of Transformers: Age of Extinction, which is set to open in theaters this Friday in the United States, on June 28, 2014 starting at 2:00 PM (Australian Time). That specific Australian Time translates into Friday midnight in the US. Here is the original forum post:

Well, that is it Hunger Games fans! It's a wrap! The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has officially finished filming. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2 director, Francis Lawrence has announced on his Twitter account (@Hibbits) that filming is now officially over for The Hunger Games film series. The principal photography for Mockingjay ended in Berlin, Germany. The first and second films in the 2-part finale are set to hit theaters on November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015, respectively.

Today is end of the principal photography for The Hunger Games film series. The cast and crew will officially wrap the 2-part finale of The Hunger Games film franchise - The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2. Producer Nina Jacobson used Twitter to announce last night that actor Jeffrey Wright has now finished his work as Beetee and that filming will wrap up today. Jeffrey Wright himself took to Twitter to thank fans for all the support and to finally bid farewell to his character, District 3 Victor Beetee, that he has brought to life so perfectly.
